Boom the Brachiosaurus Backhoe is just one of the amazingly fun Dino Construction Company dinosaurs. My kids both love playing with Boom inside or outside! Not only can it help develop both fine and gross motor skills but it encourages creative play and imagination which I love! Plus..who doesn’t love dinosaurs!
The Dino Construction Company dinosaurs come in several sizes, styles and of course dinosaurs. The recommended age is 3-6 but there are no small pieces, however pieces do move so watch for tiny fingers. My nearly 8 year old likes to play with this still but I imagine that is going to change. The Diva, however, will enjoy it for awhile yet!
Boom is made out of that very durable but smooth and softer plastic. Not bendy but not that cheap hard stuff. Very quality materials although at first a bit stiff. As the kids played it loosened up a bit but hasn’t got to the very loose point which is nice.
Educational Insights is great about making quality toys and games so it was no surprise these were made very well.
His head, tail and main body all move and he is on wheels..well the tractor or tank type wheel that also moves when you push or pull him.
The mouth can open and close, his head can go up and down and his neck can move up and down and extend to be longer but it is all manual. Nothing moves on its own which perfect for a toy like this.
The tail can turn in a circle, and arch up and down and the bit on the end can scoop up sand, dirt, snow or toys…or whatever else your kids want to play with! Again, none of it on its own. The toy is completely child controlled so nothing can accidentally close and pinch a kid’s fingers… I love that.
Since it is currently summer my kids have been playing with him inside and out in the sand box. Inside after we rinse him off of course…sand gets everywhere…but the kids love it.
Their favorite way to play is using Boom, some bugs and tiny dinosaurs…but occasionally the slightly taller than Boom T-Rex toy comes out to play…or fight.
Boom either eats the bugs or fights them off to protect the tiny dinosaurs that are sometimes the babies, sometimes the tiny dino bad guys…it depends on their mood I think.
They also use blocks when playing inside and sometimes Boom knocks over buildings…lately though it’s been outside playing which I am more than fine with!
