The Children’s Museum here in Indianapolis has some wonderful toys, games and educational tools. Throughout the next month I get to show you a few of them starting with Fashion Spotlight. It is a magnetic dress up toy from Patch Products and my Diva was in heaven playing with it.

I have seen magnetic toys before and we have even owned a couple but my daughter has never really cared for them, besides ripping them up, until this one. My son is 6 and even he likes to arrange outfits!256 copy

The case is metal and has a handle which makes transport easy and it stays closed even when dropped. That last one we know all too well and my kids aren’t the only ones dropping it. Ooops. Very sturdy though.

The magnet pieces, however, are typical magnet pieces. They can bend and be torn (hasn’t happened so I’m assuming based on other magnet toys) so I would say the recommended age of 4+ is pretty accurate. My Diva at 3 was a toy destroyer by accident…usually but now is more gentle with them. Everything does stick nicely and if you stand it up they do not fall unless of course you have them stacked on top of each other.

There are two models you can dress up however you want in various outfits and there are quite a lot of outfits. You can dress them up for a ball, a day at the park, cheering for a game or even a ballet. My little Diva has her own style and loves dressing herself in various crazy outfits so I figured she would love dressing up the models too. She doesn’t do too bad either.2014-11-05 18.22.00-2 copy

My niece, Lil Mama, is 8 and also had a chance to play with it. She loved it too and spent her entire week long visit playing with Fashion Spotlight every single day. I think I need to buy her one for christmas. For younger kids this is great for helping with fine motor skills AND lets them use their imagination. I LOVE toys that give kids a chance to use their imagination!

If you have a little fashionista or Diva of your very own this is the perfect toy for them. It travels very well and is perfect for doctor visits, road trips or waiting in car lines! Also, it isn’t messy and is tons of fun, what more could you ask for in a toy? Now I just need to find one with boy models for my Gentleman!

The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis has this wonderful toy along with lots of others in their store but you can also purchase it online HERE.
