No I did not decapitate a bunch of monkeys. I DID make little monkey heads though!

Out of pom poms,  not sand or shrinking powder.

I made five to use with finger sleeves for the song “5 Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed”

Supplies Needed

Scissors
Glue – I used a fabric glue FABRI-TAC
1 sheet of felt in a tan (for the monkey face)
Medium sized Dark Brown Pom Poms (for the monkey head)
Wiggly Eyes (your choice of size)
Permanent marker (to draw a mouth)

Step 1: Items needed:

Piece of paper
Pencil
Scissors
Felt – Monkey face

I drew a basic face shape on paper and cut it out and traced it on the felt in permanent marker. Then I cut out 5 faces. If you are better at drawing and cutting than I am you can skip the first part and go right to the drawing with marker on felt. Or straight to the cutting if you really good! I wasn’t but I do acknowledge others might be.

Step 2: Items needed:

Pom Poms
Monkey faces
Glue
Iron (optional)

I ironed an area of the pom pom so it was mostly flat. This made it easier to glue the face on. You don’t have to iron it if you don’t want to. Glue the face on the pom pom.

Step 3: Items needed:

Felt
Scissors
Pom Pom monkeys with faces
Glue

Cut out shapes for the ears. I used ovals and trimmed the bottoms. The shape will depend on how big you want the ears. You might want big circle monkey ears or little cat like ears. I guess it depends on what type of monkey you want to make.

After you have cut enough ears, felt ears please, glue them on the pom poms. Spread the pom pom fur and apply glue to both sides then put the ear piece in and squeeze together.

Step 4: Items needed:

Pom Pom monkeys
Permanent marker
Wiggly eyes
Glue

The last step is to draw a mouth and glue on the eyes. Let dry and you now have little monkey heads!

Optional step: Items needed:

Monkey head
Velcro (I used the soft side of the velcro)
Glue

Since I am using these monkey heads for singing songs I put velcro on the back of the monkey heads. Now I can put them on my finger sleeves and remove them for the “5 Little Monkeys” song.
