Oh we can’t wait to go! The Chicago Toy & Game Fair (or ChiTAG as the cool kids call it), is the only U.S. fair of its kind open to the public. It returns to Navy Pier for its 11th year on Saturday, November 23, 2013 from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. and Sunday, November 24, 2013 from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m and we are soooo excited to finally get to go!

Founded in 2003, ChiTAG is the global toy and game hub for consumers, inventors, trade, and media. In celebration of the power of play and creativity, the two-day extravaganza, taking place at Navy Pier, offers interactive exhibits, contests (such as the official Illinois state yo-yo contest), live stage entertainment (including Mac King the Magician), tournaments, and more.

The cost of this amazing fair is insanely affordable! Just $10 per adult ticket and $5 per children’s ticket! We have coupons for $2 off too! You can also enter below to win a FREE family pass for the weekend!

With your ticket you get to preview, play, and purchase the hottest toys and games, rediscover classics, and meet the inventors behind them all. We love games of all kinds and who doesn’t love toys!

Here are a few things to look forward to at the Fair. Personally I wish we could do EVERYTHING but my kids are too young for some it. For now! Can’t wait til they are old enough! Well…ok I can but when it finally happens we are doing EVERYTHING!

The Young Inventor Challenge provides an opportunity for children ages 6 to 18 to showcase their own original toy & game inventions to toy & game industry professionals, members of media and the general public.

The judging is split into two categories, usually 6-11 (junior) and 12-18 (senior) but are sometimes adjusted slightly based on the number of participants and ages so that everyone has a fair chance to win.  We always try to balance it out so the 2 categories have about the same number of entrants.

There is no fee to participate in the Young Inventor Challenge. Participants and their immediate families are invited to be our guests with complimentary admission to ChiTAG for the whole weekend!

My son just turned 5 and he invented a game at Gen Con this year! I am sooo proud of it AND we are going to create the actual game together as a family before this even next year! Hopefully you will see us in the challenge!

One of the special events going on is the Star Wars Character Lunch. That’s right Star Wars!!! This is one of the most popular events at ChiTAG and you can see why! You get to have lunch with Star Wars Characters. If you know anything about CosPlay then you might have heard of the Star Wars 501st Legion: Vader’s Fist. Just in case you haven’t they are the leading force in fan-based charity events and have THE most professional non-movie costumes around. We are VERY excited about this! My son loves Star Wars and my daughter loves using light sabers.

This event looks amazing and we are sooo excited to be able to go! We live in Indy so its not too far and will be a mini vacation which is exciting! We LOVE traveling but don’t get to very often because of schedules.
